What made me become a real estate agent?
My life was changing. When I realized my daughter was moving away from home to attend college, I started getting nervous about thinking if my daughter would qualify for financial aid and if not will I be able to help her. And so I did some soul searching and decided to learn a new business for extra income so that I can help my daughter through college and as I was taking the real estate classes I learned about the challenges the latino community faces through the whole home buying process. Learning this information motivated me to reach out to the latino community as their real estate agent.
Why is representation so important in this industry?
Representing the latino community as their real estate agent is important to me because when I went through the home buying experience it took me about 4 years to buy a home. I had to meet the right person in the real estate field to guide me through it so that I can be approved for a home loan. The latino community plays a big part in the U.S economy and so does real estate. It's only fair that the latino community should have more access to resources when it comes to purchasing a home like what steps to take to get approved for a home loan.
If you can make any difference in the industry, what would it be?
If I can make a difference in the industry it would be educating the latino community about home ownership and encouraging them to take the leap into owning their home.
What is the importance of real estate in the Hispanic community?
It's important for the hispanic/ latino community to own real estate because they have a big impact in the U.S economy as consumers but when it comes to owning their home, there are not a lot of latino homeowners and therefore a lack of generational wealth. Many of us come to this country for a better future and so the focus is on survival and not so much on owning a home. This is something I would like to change.
